Southern Section: Yarram to Dunkeld
The hike to Wannon campsite has enticing views over the Serra Range and fantastic wildflowers. The trail is significantly easier than what you’ve had in the Central Section, and a generally well-formed track.
You’ll cross the Grampians Valley with seasonal swampland before climbing onto the Serra Range. After a beautifully contouring ascent, you will spend almost all day following its spine, with views both east over farmland and west across the Victoria Valley to the Victoria Range.
Caves, climbs, cloudbase views from the rocky tops of Signal Peak and Mt Abrupt, along with wildflowers and varied scenery over a short fun distance.
Scrambling, views, stunning wildflowers, cliff ladders, peaceful farmland and an Aussie country town, and all on your last day on the Grampians Peaks Trail!
The 4-day, 47km/29.2mi hike from Yarram to Dunkeld is not as demanding as the other sections. But you’ll still get fantastic views both to and from the Serra Range and marvellous peaks such as Mt Abrupt. The track is mostly well-formed, with far less scrambling.
