Granite Skywalk, Porongurup Range, Western Australia
The Castle Rock Walk Trail is a terrific little Class 4, 4km return hike, ascending to a rocky peak and skirting its base to Karri Lookout and views to the south. When you reach its end, you also have the option of traversing a 130m Class 5 climb assisted with steel handholds and a 7m steel ladder — to the Skywalk, with almost 360 degree vistas
Mount Toolbrunup - Stirling Range
The trail up Toolbrunup isn’t manicured, and the elevation gain from the trailhead is 600m over 2.1 km, but the stunning views at the top are worth every step. Although you’ll have some rock scrambling, these sections are not exposed. The hike is best done in fine, dry weather and when the peak is not in cloud.
Mount Magog - Stirling Range
Mount Magog hike is a 7km Grade 5 return hike that begins gently on the surrounding plain before climbing ever more steeply to the peak of 856m. There are spectacular 360 degree views. Recommended time is 3-4 hours return, but we suggest leisurely hikers spend longer, with lunch on the peak to enjoy the scenery… and the wildflowers.
Nancy Peak Circuit and Devil’s Slide: Porongurup Range, Western Australia
This extraordinary day walk in the Porongurup National Park has incredible views in every direction. You’ll climb along a spine before crossing a saddle and ascending again to the highest peak for ever more spectacular scenery, from the Stirling Range in the north to the coast in the south. Botanists will also spot many rare and endemic plant species that occur nowhere else.
Mount Trio - Stirling Range
Mt Trio comprises three main peaks (two prominent) connected by a saddle, providing views in every direction. The Class 4 walk is a lot of fun, with terrific variety and vistas over a short distance that’s achievable as a day walk for any leisurely hiker.
